They’re definitely worth checking out! Their website is where you can learn more about them, buy merchandise, and follow videos and tour dates. Rixton truly have potential for great success in the music industry and will continue their rise to fame. They all have that charming, irresistible, clean-cut look. When you see pictures of the band for the first time, watch out for the drool! When presented with a picture of the boys, senior Leah Block said, “On a scale from 1-10 they’re like a 250.” They’re not your typical boy band: their rugged, urban, chic looks really stick out and draw people in. “They’re both catchy songs that you can’t help but sing along to,” said senior Caitlin Davidson, adding, “They remind me of summer.” “Wait On Me” is another one of their songs that’s slowly gaining popularity. It sold 93,000 copies in mid-April of this year, only a few weeks after its release in March, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Their hit song, “Me and My Broken Heart” starts off the chorus with Roche bringing in the audience with the hook, “I’m hoping it might kick start, Me and My Broken Heart.” This catchy love song will no doubt bounce around your head for the rest of your day. Rixton has been compared to artists such as Maroon 5 for the sound of lead singer, Jake Roche. Unfortunately, they do not have a tour date set for Boston or Massachusetts. The band is going on tour with famous singer Ariana Grande at the end of February. The album features already released songs, now available on iTunes, such as “Me and My Broken Heart” and “Wait On Me.” “Me and My Broken Heart” was released March 18th of this year and was a success in the US, hitting number 14 on charts.

Album DescriptionThere’s a new band heart breaking across the US. See More Your browser does not support the audio element. Just look out for middle-of-road generic balladry and anthemic dreck like "Appreciated," and the unnecessary Coldplay soundalike "Whole," where Rixton's chameleon-like abilities begin sounding like a copy of a copy of something that wasn't that great in the first place. Also redeeming are such admittedly insipid, if cheekily infectious pop aperitifs as the Bruno Mars-ish "I Like Girls," and the very '90s, Color Me Badd-esque, take-us-seriously-cuz-we-can-really-sing opening a cappella title track. It's certainly to their credit on cuts like "Me and My Broken Heart," "Speakerphone," and "We All Want the Same Thing," which soar through your ears like skillfully constructed heat-seeking missiles of radio-ready pop. It can't be stressed enough that, both to their credit and to their detriment, Rixton sound like other bands you probably already like. Centered around the resonant, lad-about-town lead-vocals of Jake Roche, Rixton are a lot like One Direction, if One Direction sounded more like Maroon 5. Produced by Benny Blanco, Robopop, Rob Golan, and Steve Mac, and featuring writing contributions from such ubiquitous contemporary pop luminaries as Ed Sheeran, Mike Posner, and Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, the group's debut album, 2015's Let the Road, is a slick, somewhat dull, but occasionally invigorating listen. Buy the album Starting at $12.99Ĭaught in an awkward place between the dance-rock cool of Ireland's Two-Door Cinema Club and the earnest over-production of forgotten '90s English boy band BBMak, Rixton are at their best when they're being delightful or ridiculous, as the moments in between can be a bit boring.
